Join Our Team as the Outreach and Services Coordinator!

OBVS is seeking applications for an Outreach and Services Coordinator to oversee the provision of service delivery to clients.  Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will work within the office, as well as within the community of Oak Bay.

Role Description:        

 The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

  • Assessing client needs through intake visits (clients will have complex needs including physical and mental challenges, financial need, as well as needs related to aging)
  • Reviewing and reassessing ongoing needs of clients
  • Coordinating client services in cooperation with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Conducting outreach activities in support of current and prospective clients
  • Referring clients to other community resources when required
  • Contributing to the development of programming
  • Coordinating the delivery of programming, including opportunities to facilitate groups
  • Collating statistics on clients and services
  • Sharing office responsibilities in support of general operations

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of Bachelors in Social Work, or comparable education and experience in counselling, social sciences or human and social development
  • Successful criminal record check for working with vulnerable populations
  • Proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, web tools)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly related to reflective listening, effectively communicating, and approaching others with empathy
  • Ability to problem solve and make informed decisions
  • Works effectively in a team environment and within processes that require collaboration
  • Demonstrated patience and appreciation for working with individuals with complex needs, especially seniors
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers an asset
  • Experience working with a nonprofit and voluntary sector organization as an employee or volunteer an asset

 Terms: 

This is a permanent, 4 day per week employment position to start February 19, 2018. The salary will be commensurate with experience, and will range from $35,000.00 to $40,000.00 plus benefits.
